We discovered a new Cambridge-based co-operative over the summer holidays: Cambridge Wood Works. They offer a wood-collection service (any wood, including that in furniture) that is not skip based, so does require a little more organisation and planning, but is cheaper - and guarantees that the wood you are disposing of is recycled or reused - rather than (as must often be the case) ending up in landfill.
Their premises, near the Grafton Centre, also allow anyone to pop round to purchase second-hand wood (as I successfully did last month). They are also offerering free wood for certain charities and schools in the area. More information on their website, or you can follow them on Twitter!
So - come on CCCC signatories - let's reuse and recycle all our wood-based waste!
