Launching Phase 2 of Climate Change Charter

Cambridge City and South Cambs LogosSouth Cambs District Council and the City Council are working to build on the success of Cambridge's Climate Change Charter. The Charter provides a framework for organisations to address climate change issues, by setting targets for cutting CO2 and reporting their progress at regular intervals.

Phase 2

In Phase 2 the Charter is being extended from the city to cover South Cambridgeshire, so public sector agencies, voluntary organisations and businesses outside the city limits have a clear structure for their work on climate change. The councils have also appointed Cambridge Architectural Research, Cambridge Carbon Footprint and SmartLIFE to provide support to organisations that want to do more.

Expo Event

Phase 2 will be launched at an Expo event at Cambridge Regional College on Friday 23 October, where people can learn from the experience of Cambridgeshire's front runners on climate change issues. Delegates will also have the chance to shape the support offered in the region.

There will also be a website for organisations interested in climate change to exchange information and find out where to go for help cutting CO2 emissions. The website will go live in September at www.cambridgeclimatechangecharter.org.uk.

Copenhagen Briefing

The support programme will include a briefing for business and organisations about the climate change summit in Copenhagen. This event will be run at the end of November.
